October Workshop—OIDA Members Receive One FREE Registration
Please join us for “Optical Communications in Networks Workshop: FUTURE DIRECTIONS AND METRICS in AGGREGATION NETWORKS”, held in tandem with Frontiers in Optics/OSA Annual Meeting, 18–19 October 2011, San Jose, California, USA.
Presented in partnership with: Center for Integrated Access Networks (CIAN)
This exclusive workshop and roadmap project will bring together leaders from the telecommunications industry, government and academia to establish a roadmap for intelligent optical aggregation networks with an emphasis on quantitative metrics at the system level.
Six metrics that define the required performance will be examined:
- Data Rate
- Energy Consumption
- Power Consumption
- Cost [$ per bit or $ per Gigabit per second]
- Latency
- Network capacity utilization
The list of key metrics will be analyzed and prioritized, reviewed and established and a figure of merit defined. Recommendations for future research will be established, based on present bottlenecks and future generation requirements. Join us and be a part of this high-powered, highly participatory working group that will examine today’s environment and the new directions we can expect in the years ahead!
