Eastern Time (US & Canada) (UTC - 05:00)

Get your marshmallows ready and grab a seat around the campfire! The Optica Technical Group on Fiber Optics Technology and Applications invite you to join them for a campfire session.

This campfire session will start with a talk from Dr. Alexander Jantzen. Dr. Jantzen, Co-founder and Chief Operations Officer of Aquark Technologies, is a physicist turned quantum entrepreneur currently working in the field of portable cold atom technology. He will discuss future directions of specialty optical fiber in quantum photonics around the campfire. The remainder of the campfire session will be open for discussion, so come with your thoughts and questions ready. You can turn your camera and mic on or off to participate as you choose.

About our speaker: Alexander Jantzen

Co-founder and Chief Operations Officer of Aquark Technologies, Alex is a physicist turned quantum entrepreneur currently working in the field of portable cold atom technology. He holds a Ph.D. in Optoelectronics from the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of Southampton along with a Masters of Physics in experimental research. His Ph.D. research on integrated optical sensors for aircraft monitoring was funded by Parker Aerospace, he was a process engineer for start-up and hollow-core fiber pioneer Lumenisity responsible for fabrication, and he serves as a passionate science outreach and communicator of photonics and particle physics. Keen to connect cutting-edge science with our daily lives he encourages others to explore entrepreneurship as an Optica Ambassador.
