OSA Fellow Frederic Merkt holds degrees from ETH Zurich and University of Cambridge. In 1995, he joined ETH Zurich as an assistant professor. Today, he holds a full professorship there. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the Werner Prize of the Swiss Chemical Society, the Swiss National Latsis Prize Awarded by the Swiss national Science Foundation, the Academy Award of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Science and Humanities, Carus Prize of the City of Schweinfurt, the William F. Meggers Award from OSA, and the Otto-Bayer-Preis Award.
